Opinions
Abortion: I think that abortion is the single most disgusting and cruel act any woman could ever take part in, but at the same time… I understand why it’s needed. I’ve always believed in taking responsibility for my actions and dealing with the consequences of the choices I make. I feel that if you’re not ready to have a child, you shouldn’t be having sex. I’m pro-choice, but I only believe it’s justifiable in a life or death matter, or in cases of rape… I don’t think it’s okay to use abortion as a form of birth control, but I also believe that everyone woman has the right to do what she wishes with her body and no one should be able to say any differently.
Adoption: In the case of an unwanted pregnancy, I think adoption should be the only option. There are plenty of families out there who aren’t fortunate enough to be able to have their own child, and look to adoption… I personally don’t think I could ever put my child up for adoption, because it’s a piece of me and I wouldn’t want anyone raising my child besides me - But if it came down to it, I’d much rather put it up for adoption and give it a chance at life. (And yes, I realize that not all foster families provide a safe and healthy environment - They’re not all rotten, though.)
After-life: I believe in reincarnation. I believe that every soul is born with a set of goals to fulfill, things to experience, and lessons to learn. When all are done, the body dies and you have a period of reflection, then get a new set and are born to a new body. Once all lessons are learned and everything is experienced, your soul rejoins the creator.
Age of Consent/Teen sex: I don’t think there should be an age limit to be able to consent to sex. Age has nothing to do with maturity level, and not all 17 year olds are completely educated about sex and the consequences thereof. I know 14 year olds who are more mature than 30 year olds. Consenting to sex shouldn’t be about age, but maturity and responsibility levels, as well as the ability to deal with any consequences that may result from your actions.
Marijuana Law Reform: I am (obviously) all for Marijuana Law Reform, especially for medicinal purposes. I’ve been dealing with anxiety disorders and back problems for much of my life and the only relief I’ve ever received is from smoking some weed. I’ve been to psychiatrists and psychologists since I was seven years old and have taken several different anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills and they haven’t helped even half as much as smoking a bowl does. I really don’t understand why it’s illegal in the first place - The pros far outweigh the cons when it comes to marijuana consumption.
Same-Sex Marriage: Love has no gender - It’s bigger than that. Gays aren’t any different, physically or mentally, than any other person in the world. They’re capable of caring and loving just like the rest of us. There’s no reason their rights should be stripped from them based solely on who they share their bed with.
Smoking: I think as long as you’re a considerate and polite smoker, there’s nothing wrong with it. I smoke, but I always ask the people I’m with if they mind first. If I’m in a car, I open a window. I make a conscious effort to blow my smoke away from everyone around me. I won’t smoke if there are children or people eating, etc.
